CGI at the SOTU

From our State of the Art Department comes the latest on how they animated Congresmman John Dingell during the State of the Union address Tuesday night. Dingell, who just turned 143, is serving his 63rd term in congress, and several staffers believe he has been dead for the last eight years. So how did they get him to lick his licks and clap excitedly every time President Obama ended a sentence? Turns out experts from Pixar, on loan to the White House, used Computer-generated Imagery (CGI) to do the work. Lead Engineer Bud Wilson said they spent several weeks preparing 3D "Dingell" animations and projected a series of images of the congressman on the seat where he was "stationed".
Cameras caught Dingell's neighbor, Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, grimacing, apparently aware of an odor coming from the senior congresmman. Wilson was asked how Pixar managed to get Dingell to soil his diaper. "He did that on his own," replied Wilson.
